Fireflies have been known for years to entertain and mystify children and adults of all ages bringing a scene of wonder and admiration to the surrounding landscape they inhabit.

Unfortunately fireflies do not inhabit much of the world and even when they are seen, it is a rare sight to see their full display.

They are visible at mating times, 10-14 days a year in mid-summer and only 4-6 hours a night. It all depends on the area and the type of the fire fly.

FYI: Female fireflies tend to eat the male after mating.
